Booking & Appointments
How do I book an appointment?
Each of our artists is responsible for their own schedules and booking, so contact them directly. You can send your desired artist an email through their page here on the website, or check their Instagram for booking inquiries.
Do you take walk-ins?
Typically we don’t, but you are always welcome to call the shop or message your desired artist directly to inquire about availability. Sometimes artists have openings, so it never hurts to ask!
How far in advance should I book?
It depends on the artist and the size of your project. Smaller pieces might be available within a week or two, while larger custom work may require booking several weeks or months out. Reach out to your preferred artist to check their availability.
What's the deposit policy?
We require a deposit to secure your appointment. The deposit amount varies depending on the size and complexity of your tattoo, and it goes directly toward your final cost. Deposits are non-refundable if you cancel or no-show, but they can be transferred to reschedule with sufficient notice.
Can I reschedule my appointment?
Life happens! If you need to reschedule, please give your artist as much notice as possible (at least 48 hours preferred). Your deposit can be transferred to a new date. Last-minute cancellations or no-shows will result in forfeiting your deposit.
Pricing & Payment
How much do tattoos cost?
Each artist sets their own pricing. Generally, a tattoo is priced based on size and how long it takes to complete. Larger scale pieces are typically done over several sessions and will be priced by the hour. Some of our artists also offer half day and day rates. Contact your preferred artist for a quote on your specific project.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, credit cards, and most major debit cards. Tips for your artist are always appreciated and can be given in cash or added to your card payment.
Can I negotiate the price?
Our artists price their work fairly based on their skill level, experience, and the time involved. If budget is a concern, talk openly with your artist about sizing down or simplifying the design to make it work within your budget.
Age & ID Requirements
How old do I have to be to get a tattoo?
You must be 18 years old with a valid government-issued photo ID. No exceptions. We do not tattoo minors, even with parental consent—those are Florida regulations we follow strictly.
What kind of ID do you accept?
Valid driver’s license, state ID, passport, or military ID. It must be current and not expired.
Design & Consultation
Can I bring my own design?
Absolutely! Bring any reference images, sketches, or ideas you have. Your artist will work with you to refine it and make sure it translates well as a tattoo. Keep in mind that some designs may need adjustments to work properly on skin.
Do you do custom work?
That’s our specialty! Every artist at Tight Lines creates custom tattoos tailored to each client. We love collaborating on unique pieces.
When will I see my design?
Most artists provide designs 24-48 hours before your appointment. This gives you time to review it and request any changes. We typically don’t send designs weeks in advance because we’re finalizing details up until your session.
What if I don't like the design?
Communication is key! If something’s not quite right, let your artist know. We want you to love your tattoo, and we’ll make adjustments until it’s exactly what you want.
Can you copy someone else's tattoo?
We prefer not to directly copy another artist’s work—it’s an ethics thing in the tattoo community. However, we’re happy to create something inspired by a design you like or work in a similar style.
Preparing For Your Appointment
How should I prepare for my appointment?
Before a tattoo appointment, always make sure you are well fed and hydrated! Tattoos are traumatic to our bodies, and if you don’t keep your blood sugar up, it can cause you to feel woozy or even faint during your appointment. We also cannot tattoo sunburned or otherwise damaged skin, so be sure to wear sunscreen and give your skin a little extra (gentle) TLC in the weeks leading up to your appointment.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Wear clothes that allow easy access to the area being tattooed and won’t be in the way. Also wear something you don’t mind getting ink on, just in case. Comfortable, loose clothing is always a good choice.
What should I avoid before my appointment?
Don’t drink alcohol the night before or day of—it thins your blood and can cause excessive bleeding. Avoid sun exposure or tanning beds for the 2 weeks prior to your appointment. Don’t use lotions or oils on the area being tattooed that day.
The Tattoo Process
How much will it hurt?
Pain levels vary depending on placement, your personal pain tolerance, and the size of the tattoo. Generally, areas with more fat and muscle (outer arms, thighs, calves) hurt less than bonier areas (ribs, ankles, spine) or sensitive spots (inner arm, behind the knee). Most people describe it as an annoying scratching or burning sensation rather than unbearable pain.
How long will my session take?
It depends entirely on the size and detail of your piece. A small tattoo might take 30 minutes to an hour, while larger pieces can take several hours or multiple sessions. Your artist will give you a time estimate when booking.
Can I bring someone with me?
You’re welcome to bring one support person, but we ask that you limit it to one guest to keep the space comfortable for everyone. No children, please—tattoo shops aren’t appropriate environments for kids.
Can I take breaks during my session?
Of course! Let your artist know if you need to stretch, use the bathroom, grab some air, or just take a breather. Longer sessions naturally include breaks.
Aftercare & Touch-Ups
How do I take care of my new tattoo?
Check out our Tattoo Aftercare page for complete instructions on keeping your new ink healing perfectly!
Do you offer free touch-ups?
If we did the tattoo, touch-ups are typically free within the first few months to a year (depending on the artist), assuming you followed proper aftercare instructions. Reach out to your original artist to schedule.
Will you fix or cover up an existing tattoo that I am unhappy with?
Probably! Reworks and coverups can be tricky, but are usually not impossible. Every artist feels differently about them, so please reach out to your artist of choice to discuss your specific needs.
Health & Safety
Health & Safety
Is it safe?
Absolutely. We maintain strict health and safety standards with hospital-grade sterilization, single-use needles, and proper hygiene protocols. All our artists are licensed and follow Florida health regulations.
Can I get tattooed if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
We don’t recommend it. Most reputable shops won’t tattoo pregnant or nursing clients due to potential risks and healing complications. Wait until after you’re done breastfeeding.
Can I get tattooed if I have a medical condition?
It depends on the condition. If you have diabetes, a bleeding disorder, skin conditions, or are immunocompromised, please consult your doctor first and let your artist know. We may need medical clearance.
What if I'm on medication?
Some medications (blood thinners, Accutane, certain antibiotics) can affect tattooing and healing. Let your artist know what you’re taking so they can advise you properly.

Do you do piercings?
Nope!
Can I bring my pet?
Sorry, no pets allowed (except service animals).

What's your cancellation policy during bad weather?
If there’s severe weather and you can’t safely make it to your appointment, contact your artist as soon as possible. We’ll work with you to reschedule.
